Just made some goats milk soap

Hi

It's the perfect afternoon to make soap.  Goats milk is one of my best sellers, so a lot of you will be pleased as I've just made a 4 kilo batch.  The house smells divine as it has lavender, palmarosa and niauoli essential oils.

Due to the minimum four week curing process, this will not be ready for sale until Wednesday 18th August.  Don't worry, I still have a few bars left if you want to order.  Here's a picture of the soap in it's mould:

Moisturising bath salts or beautiful body butters? What's your preference

While I've been out and about selling soap and accesories, a number of customers have asked if I do shea butter.  So, for my June 2010 newsletter, I posed the question:

What would you prefer: a moisturising bath salt or beautiful body butter?  For both options there is the choice of an unscented version.  The outcome of that query was 67% opted for body butter and 33% for moisturising bath salts.

So, I'm now putting this out there to those of you who don't get my newsletters.  The moisturising bath salt as well as the body butter would include the 'gorgeous emollient' shea butter, so you can either leave a comment on this blog or drop me an email on info@genesissoap.co.uk. and let me know what your preference would be.

Your comments would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

Guild of Craft Soap and Toiletry Makers

I've listened to your feedback ............

Thank you to all of you who have made enquiries regarding my soap making workshops.  This is what you have said:

  • Mondays are not good for you as it’s a work day
  • The course is a bit too long and you would prefer a shorter course without lunch being provided
  • Would prefer if the course was over the weekend
  • Do I cater for corporate events?
  • Can I come out to a party (adults only) and teach in your own venue?

There were a number of other queries, but these represented the main ones.

Well, I am happy to advise that I have new dates for soap making workshops:-

  • Saturday 12 June 2010 1pm to 5pm
  • Saturday 3 July 2010 1pm to 5pm
  • Saturday 7 August 2010 1pm to 5pm
  • Saturday 21 August 2010 1pm to 5pm

The best part is that these workshops are for a recession-busting £49.  You will never want to buy shop bought soap once you have attended this course.

And, yes I do cater for corporate events, and I can do special events at a venue of your choice.  Just contact me on 0783 732 4985 or email me on info@genesissoap.co.uk to find out more.

Special offer - free sample giveaway for four days only - act now!

Ok, you've seen the coffee deodorant soap and quite possibly wondered what's that?  Well, you now have the opportunity to sample this very soap for free.  Yes, you read right.  I'm offering free bars of coffee deodorant soap for four days only, so act now!

So what's all the fuss about coffee deodorant?  Well, at the Dulwich Craft Fair back in November last year, I sold out.  Why is it so popular?

  • Chefs and cooks love it as it gets rid of unpleasant smells.  Especially good if you've been handling garlic and onions;
  • The green fingers amongst you love it as the exfoliating action of the coffee granules helps to get rid of soil tucked away in finger nails;
  • Mechanics love it as it helps to get rid of the lingering smell of petrol and motor oil.

To qualify for your free sample of coffee deodorant soap, fill in the contact form with your name, email address and in the message box, insert 'Coffee deodorant offer' followed with your delivery address.  Note that this offer is only available to one person per household.  Please do not abuse as I won't be able to run offers in the future!

Offer expires on midnight (UK time), Friday 5 March 2010, so don't delay, fill in the contact form today.

What's so special about Bambino?

Bambino is a beautiful whie soap made with babies of six months and over in mind.  Due to its beneficial effects, adults can also use it.

What oils are used?

The ingredients are olive oil, coconut oil and apricot kernel oil.  Essential oils include lavender and palmarosa.

What are the benefits?

In soap-making, olive oil is king due to its conditioning and emollient qualities.  Whilst protecting the skin, oilve oil allows your skin to "breathe" and maintain its natural moisture levels.  Lavender and palmarosa have been added for their relaxing and calming effects.

Where can I get it?

You can order 100 gramme bars online via the shop, or visit any of the locations listed on the 'Events Diary' page.

Soap and Suds at Croydon Summer Festival

Saturday gone was my first big event since I started trading in May of this year.

Croydon Summer Festival is an annual festival held in Lloyd Park over two days in the middle of summer.  The first day is 'The World Party whilst the second day is 'Mela'.  Acts perform on the main stage, world stage and a community stage.  There are activities for all the family, and a great day out, weather permitting.

As I only had my stall for one day only, I was located to the south west of the main stage, next to Bjorn the polar bear by Los Kaos and Desert Island Discs by Artizani.  To my right, I had a lovely trader selling gorgeous apparel who runs by the name of Piligrimsbazaar.com.

The weather although slightly overcast held out until just after mid-day.  Before the heavens opened up, I had a ring side seat to a fantastic performance by Artizani, about a castaway who makes friends with Larry the lobster.  I was then taken aback by the special sound effects of the prehistoric beasts that paraded the grounds.  They were fantastic!  I would upload the pictures, but as I'm not an expert with my cameraphone, I managed to chop the head off.  If you'd like to see a proper picture, click the following link: http://www.croydonsummerfestival.org/other-activities.php#kidsarea .

Although it rained for the most part of the day, I didn't allow that to dampen my spirits, as I had the deejay tones of Normski in the background, followed up with Candi Staton serenading me with 'Young Hearts.'

At the end of a rainy day with soap and suds, I even sold some soap!
